House Padi was born in 2025 from a shared frustration. Our founder, Dr. Terese Shadrach Akpem, spent three months searching for an apartment in Makurdi—viewing 12 properties, paying "browsing fees" to three different agents, and encountering two fake listings.
The breaking point came when he discovered the apartment he finally paid for didn't actually exist. The agent disappeared with his ₦50,000 "booking fee."
That's when he decided: there had to be a better way.
Dr. Terese Shadrach Akpem gathered a team of engineers, real estate professionals, and legal experts. Their goal: build a platform that eliminates the middleman, verifies every listing, and makes the rental process transparent from start to finish.
Today, My House Padi serves thousands of Nigerians across Lagos, Abuja, Port Harcourt, Kaduna, and Benue. We've processed over ₦2.1 billion in rent and helped tenants save an average of ₦150,000 in agent fees per transaction.
"Every Nigerian deserves access to safe, affordable housing without being exploited. House Padi is our contribution to making that a reality."
— Dr.Terese Shadrach Akpem, Founder & CEO
