  • Account Information: Name, email, phone number, date of birth, BVN (for verification only), NIN (optional)
  • Verification Documents: Government ID (Driver's license, Voter's card, International passport), utility bills, proof of ownership
  • Profile Information: Bio, photo, employment details, references
  • Listing Information: Property details, photos, videos, documents, pricing
  • Communications: Messages with other users, support requests, survey responses
  • Payment Information: Bank account details (for payouts), transaction history

Legal Basis (NDPR): We process your personal information based on consent, contract performance, legal obligation, and legitimate interests. You may withdraw consent at any time.

3. Information Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only in these limited circumstances:

With Other Users

When you express interest in a property or initiate contact, your profile information (name, verification status) is shared with the other party. Property listings are public.

With Service Providers

We engage trusted third parties who process data on our behalf: cloud hosting (AWS/Azure), identity verification, payment processing, customer support tools, analytics (Google Analytics).

For Legal Reasons

When required by law, court order, or government request (NITDA, EFCC, Police). We will notify you unless legally prohibited.

Business Transfers

In the event of a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, your information may be transferred. We will require the acquiring entity to honor this Privacy Policy.

Encryption

How to Exercise Your Rights

We will respond within 7 working days. If you are unsatisfied with our response, you may lodge a complaint with NITDA (www.nitda.gov.ng).

7. Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you services.

Active Accounts

Data retained until account deletion or 24 months of inactivity.

Deleted Accounts

Anonymized data retained for 90 days, then permanently deleted. Legal/financial records retained for 6 years (CAMA requirement).

We may retain anonymized, aggregated data indefinitely for analytics and product improvement.

8. Children's Privacy

House Padi is not intended for users under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors. If you become aware that a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us at privacy@myhousepadi.com.

9. International Data Transfers

Our servers are located in Nigeria (AWS Africa - Cape Town) and the European Union. For users in Nigeria, your data is primarily processed within Nigeria. When we transfer data outside Nigeria, we ensure adequate protection through:

  • EU Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs)
  • Binding Corporate Rules (for affiliates)
  • Adequacy decisions by NITDA

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. Material changes will be communicated via email and platform notification at least 14 days before becoming effective.
